Changes to my Close Protection Course

Earlier this year during one of my open day presentations, I announced a major change to the 21 Day Vanquish Close Protection Training Course. While it already includes Advance Surveillance training as well as Counter and Anti-Surveillance and several others, I have decided to incorporate our brand new Level 3 Private Investigator Training Course into the 21 day training programme.

In order to do this, I have had to make some preliminary changes to the course removing the Chauffeur Training (PCO topographical training and test) element and changing some of the course content around to better suit candidates who will now gain this additional and very valuable qualification at no extra cost. Since launching this course, the chauffeur has become obsolete due to a change in legislation surrounding PCO regulations and from taking feedback from past candidates who generally felt that it was a waste of time.

You can find more info relating to the PCO changes at the following link http://content.tfl.gov.uk/statement-of-requirements.pdf

The new qualification, fully entitled IQ Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators, is recognised by the SIA and will be the relevant qualification that will be required when applying for the SIA PI licence when it is made available. This licence will be required by anyone working in the private sector in the UK who wishes to conduct any form of investigation work including surveillance. Vanquish Investigation Services require any of their operatives to hold a surveillance qualification issued by Vanquish Training Academy in order to work for them. However, as I anticipate that the new licence is expected to be issued within the next few years, we would like all of our course candidates to be well prepared for this major change.

I must admit, this new addition to the course will make it even more difficult for attendees. That said, the course is already difficult and is designed, partly, to assess their ability to focus and apply themselves.

The course starting this July in London will be the first course to incorporate the new qualification and will, in part, be an experiment to see how it affects the course structure. This is one of a few reasons why I have decided to instruct the course myself after considering retirement from teaching.

So as of 2018 the qualifications gained from the 21 Day Course were as follows:

  1. Level 3 First Aid at Work

  2. Level 3 Paediatric First Aid at Work

  3. Defib Training

  4. Advance Surveillance

  5. Counter & Anti-Surveillance

  6. TSCM (Bug Sweeping)

  7. SIA Level 3 Close Protection

  8. PCO Topographical Training (chauffeur training)

Now the qualifications gained are as follows:

  1. Level 3 First Aid at Work

  2. Level 3 Paediatric First Aid at Work

  3. Defib Training

  4. Advance Surveillance

  5. Counter & Anti-Surveillance

  6. TSCM (Bug Sweeping)

  7. SIA IQ Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators

  8. SIA Level 3 Close Protection

As at the end of each course, I will be reviewing the changes to observe whether or not any adjustments to course can be made in order to improve it.
